Sharon Kay Henderson, 72, of Center Point, died Sunday, July 27, 2014, at Mercy Medical Center,
Cedar Rapids. A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, July 31, at St. John Lutheran Church, Center Point, conducted by the Rev. David Hansen. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the church. Burial will be at a later date at Center Point
Cemetery.
Sharon was born April 18, 1942, the eldest daughter of John and Fern (Jordan) Harris. She married Norman W. Henderson at Zion Lutheran Church, Hiawatha, on Aug. 12, 1961. She had been employed by Rockwell Collins. She was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Center Point, and had been a resident of Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, since last November. Sharon was an excellent cook and her love for sewing kept her going through her years.
Sharon is survived by three daughters, Christine (Rev. David) Hansen of
Center Point, Kathleen (Thomas) Johnson of Kirksville, Mo., and Jolene (Charles) Egan of Henderson, Nev.; one sister, Linda (Kenneth) Morris of Hiawatha; five grandchildren, Jordan (Trevor) Mouw, Micah (Gary) Hickey, Ashley Egan, Andrew (Tiffany) Johnson and Bradly Egan; three great-grandchildren, Kali Egan, Tripp Hickey and Soren Mouw; a sister-in-law, Esther Henderson; and a brother-in-law, Bill Metz.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Norman in 2013; and her parents.
The family wishes to thank all those who have cared for Sharon during her illness, especially Julie and Deb from Mercy Home Health Care and the staff at Mercy Medical Center and Garnett Place.
