Sharon Kay Haefner, 77, of Vinton, passed peacefully Jan. 4. 2017, at Vinton's Virginia Gay Annex
Sharon was born in Maquoketa, Iowa, on July 4, 1939, to Fred and Oletha Fletcher. She was united in marriage to Donald Ivan Haefner on March 17, 1957. Sharon and Don lived in Vinton. They raised two children, Starrene Haefner Melsha of Marion and Steve Haefner of Altoona. A daughter was added to the family in the summer of 1960, Judy McFarland Ortz (Dan) of Cedar Rapids.
Sharon held many jobs in Vinton, where she was well known. She was loving, caring, fun and sassy. Her orneriness endeared her to all those who knew and loved her.
Sharon is survived by her husband, Donnie; daughters, Starrene and Judy; and son, Steve.
Also her brother, Fred Fletcher of Spring Hill, Fla.; sister, Connie Fletcher Richards of Vinton; five living grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Oletha; grandson, Adrian Melsha; and two sisters, Geraldine Fletcher Lindsey and Yvonne Fletcher Koopman.
At Sharon's request, her remains are to be cremated. There will be no formal services. The family will host a celebration of memories at the family home on July 4, 2017. Please keep Sharon's memory close to your heart.
