Sharon (Byers) Miller, 77, of North Liberty, Iowa,
passed away peacefully on Oct. 14, 2021, at Keystone Place at Forevergreen.
Sharon was born on
March 4, 1944, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, to Gerald and Dorothy (Schneider) Byers. She grew up in Cedar Rapids, where she graduated high school before earning a Master's degree from The University of Iowa. Sharon married Michael Miller on Aug. 4, 1979, in Cedar Rapids, and spent 39 memorable years together before he passed away in 2019. Sharon was a teacher and a librarian in Cedar Rapids for over 32 years. She started her career at Kennedy High School as a Language Arts teacher and retired as Head Librarian from Jefferson High School. Through her career, Sharon was able to share her passion for the written word.
Music and nature were also an important part of Sharon's life. She was active in the Cedar Rapids Theater as an actress, singer, and dancer. She treasured the time she spent as part of the "The Follies" production. She loved exploring nature, particularly on the north shore of Lake Superior. She was always on the lookout for unique driftwood or interesting rocks.
Sharon is survived by her son, Todd (Wendy) Miller of Piscataway, N.J., and his children, Caroline and Maya. She is also survived by her dear friend and caregiver, Edie Seye of Brooklyn, Iowa.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
There are no services planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
