Sharon was born May 4, 1938, in Belle Plaine, Iowa, to Fred and Pauline (Heller) Kotezy. She grew up on a farm northwest of Marengo with her twin sister, Janice Sue Kotezy (Wear). She attended country school until eighth grade and graduated from Iowa Valley High School in Marengo in 1956. Sharon worked in Cedar Rapids at Iowa National Mutual Insurance Co. She met her husband of 56 years, Donald Behounek, while dancing at Armar. They were united in marriage on Nov. 4, 1961. From that union, she was blessed with three children, Lori, Kevin and Mark. In her free time, she enjoyed gardening, flowers, working on the farm and entertaining her grandchildren. She also taught religion classes and was a member of NCSF, Ladies Legion Auxiliary and the Rosary Society.
Sharon lived to see her children raised and to enjoy their families, especially her grandchildren and great-grandchild.
Survivors include her husband, Donald; daughter Lori (Curt) Gerhold of Atkins, and sons, Kevin (Micki) Behounek of Chelsea and Mark (Raye) Behounek of San Antonio, Texas. She also leaves behind her eight grandchildren, Lindsey (Christopher) Volkers, Ashley (Seth) Newton, Kelsey Gerhold, Matthew Gerhold, Kristi Behounek, Katelyn Behounek, Mattius Behounek and Khloe Behounek; and great-granddaughter, Avery Behounek.
She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Janice Wear; and granddaughter, Elizabeth Behounek.
P.S.: Grandma, you're "it!"
