Sharon Lee Dombroski Becker, 71, died July 17, 2016, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
A Mass Of Christian Burial will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Van Horne on Friday, July 22, at 10:30 a.m., with Father Keith Birch as celebrant and James Naso as deacon. Interment will be held at St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery in Norway. Visitation also will be at the church in Van Horne from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday. Per her wishes, the casket will be closed. A memorial fund has been established.
Sharon Lee Dombroski was born June 12, 1945, in LaSalle, Ill., to Peter John and Antoinette "Red" (Nodari) Dombroski, and resided in Oglesby, Ill. She graduated from LaSalle-Peru High School in 1963.
On Aug. 15, 1970, she was united in marriage to Clarence James Becker in Oglesby, Ill.
Sharon worked for Westclox in Peru, Ill., after high school, before marrying and becoming a homemaker and stay-at-home mom. Sharon and Clarence made their home in Van Horne in 1972, where they raised four children.
Sharon enjoyed reading, shopping, baking, growing flowers (especially roses and peonies) and visiting with friends over coffee. She also loved spending time with her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her sons, Todd (Julie) Becker, Cedar Rapids, and Ryan Becker, Van Horne; daughters, Kellee (David) Jurgens, Van Horne, and Tracee (Jason) Orman, Erie, Ill.; grandchildren, Trevor (Ashley) Harvey, Jade Becker, Brilee Jurgens, Dalton Jurgens, Kailee Becker, Kale Orman and Chase Becker; great-grandchildren, Trevor L.M. Harvey and Jaden and Madison Rogers; sister-in-law, Laura Dombroski, Princeton, Ill.; and numerous additional in-laws, nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother, Darryl Dombroski.
The family would like to thank Dr. Wood and the staff of the Hall-Perrine Cancer Center, and the staff from Keystone Senior Suites, for the incredible care and support they provided over the years, and to the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha, Iowa.
