Sharla M. Satterly, 73, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 2, 2014, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, Iowa City. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, with the Rev. Lloyd Brockmeyer officiating. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery.
Sharla Marae Satterly was born Sept. 26, 1940, to Elvin and Wava Fink Sonksen in Gladbrook, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Clyde Satterly on Feb. 13, 1960, in Nashua. Sharla worked at Farmstead Foods for 24 years and then RF Micro Devices until retiring in 2007.
She was a member of PEO Chapter IH and St. Paul's United Methodist Church.
Sharla enjoyed gardening, reading, traveling and especially spending time with her family and grandchildren.
She is survived by her husband, Clyde; daughter, Julie (Randy) Peterson of Vinton; son, Todd (Sharon) Satterly of Robins; grandchildren, Bryce Satterly, Paige Satterly, Kayla Peterson, Dexter Satterly and Kendra Peterson; brother, Marshall (Judy) Sonksen of Bettendorf; and sister, Cathy (Rex) Jones of Tennessee.
Sharla was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
