Shannon E. Starks, 43, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Monday, March 16, 2015, at his home. Services: 3 p.m. Thursday, March 19, at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, Cedar Rapids. Family will greet friends from 1 p.m. until service time on Thursday. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Daylan and Steele; mother, Cindy Starks (Glenn Lonsdale); sister, Katie Starks; maternal grandmother, Ella Riser; paternal grandmother, Shirley Sander; aunts, Carolyn (John) O'Connor and Sherry (Denny) Franklin; and cousin, Mark Kelly, along with other cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, George Riser; and father, Daniel Starks.
Shannon was born on Oct. 16, 1971, in Iowa City, Iowa, son of Daniel and Cindy (Riser) Starks. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1990. Shannon worked for Apache Hose for 20 years. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and loved sports.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
