SHANNON L. RASMUSSEN
Cedar Rapids
Shannon L. Rasmussen, 48, passed away suddenly while vacationing in Largo, Fla., on Dec. 9, 2021. A Celebration of Life will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 19, at The Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood in Cedar Rapids. All guests are respectfully requested to wear a mask. The Celebration of Life will continue at the Second Avenue Corner Pocket, 609 Second Ave. SW, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Shannon is survived by his Life Partner, Jackie Lynch; daughter, Danielle Brecht; grandson, Lodan Lamas; mother, Raejeanne Swore; father, Bob (Barb) Baldwin; uncle, Mike "Rat" and aunt, Sandy Carolan; aunt, Becky Fester; lifelong friends, Bryon Chapman and David "Tiny" Tuttle; dearly beloved companion, Bill; and many more aunts and uncles.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Rick Swore; and uncle, Gary Fester.
Shannon was an avid pool player who spent much of his free time mastering the game. Mike taught him everything there is to know about pool and Sandy was like a second mother to him. Shannon and Jackie did everything together; pool, camping, fishing and watching the Hawkeyes. Bill was always along for the ride. He loved Bill and said he never thought he could love a dog so much. The couple also enjoyed cooking and putting meat on the smoker to share with friends.
Shannon was a heating and cooling service tech for Novak Heating & Cooling for 17 years and was a member of the Sheet Metal Workers Local 263. He was also the first champion of the Novak Employee Annual Rib Cook Off.
Shannon was loved by many and without anyone knowing he helped many.
"To all the pool players that thought you could beat me but never had the balls to step up, I'll be waiting!"
Please share a memory of Shannon at www.murdochfuneralhome.com under obituaries.
