Shannahan, Kathryn 'Katie'

Kathryn "Katie" Shannahan, 84, of Williamsburg, died Sunday, March 6, 2011, at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg, with Father Joseph Roost officiating. Burial will be St. Mary's Cemetery, Williamsburg. Visitation: 4 to 7 p.m. today at St. Mary's Hall, Williamsburg, with a VFW Auxiliary service at 7 p.m., followed by a Vigil service. A memorial fund has been established. Kloster Funeral Home, Marengo, is in charge of arrangements.

She is survived by her husband of 61 years, Joe; three daughters, Sandy Weldon (Jim) of Oxford, Marcy Wardenburg (Kent) of Williamsburg, and Julie Corman (Dan) of Broomfield, Colo.; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hugh and Teresa Ford Gallagher; a daughter, Teri Shannahan; a granddaughter, Tara Wardenburg; three brothers, Earl, Hubert and Joseph Gallagher; and four sisters, Mary Agnes Kinney, Anna Gallagher, Rose Mae Gallagher and Mary Jane Steffen.
