Shankland, Lyle Leland
Lyle Leland Shankland, 75, died Tuesday, March 15, 2011, at Jones Regional Medical Center in Anamosa. Services will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 19, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Anamosa. Father Wayne Droessler will officiate at the service. Friends may call from 5 to 8 tonight at Goettsch Funeral Home in Anamosa. Interment will be at Immaculate Conception Cemetery, rural Monticello.
Surviving are his wife, Kay; children, Cynthia (Mark) Rutan of Anamosa, Catherine (Cat) Brown of Lisbon and Christopher (Lois) Shankland of Kearney, Mo.; a brother, Aliven (Marge) Shankland of Seattle, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Alan, Michael, Kevin, Kasey, Jesse, Danaisa, Brook and Chelsea; and two great-grandchildren, Emerson and Cameron.
He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Merle.
Lyle Leland Shankland was born April 27, 1935, in Olin, Iowa. He was the son of Hubert and Zilda (Clay) Shankland. Lyle was a 1953 graduate of Olin High School. On Sept. 12, 1959, Lyle and Kay Ann Hosch were united in marriage in Castle Grove, Iowa.
Lyle enjoyed fishing, old cars, visiting with friends, painting, music, his cats and was a member of the Paint & Pallette Club.
Lyle was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend and he will be missed dearly by those closest to him.
