Shane J. Wilson, 68, of Monticello, died Saturday, Feb. 25, 2023, at the Monticello Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.
Graveside services with Military Honors will be held at Oakwood Cemetery in Monticello at 11 a.m. Friday, March 3, 2023, with a Celebration of life to follow at the Monticello Eagles Club.
Shane was born at the John McDonald Hospital in Monticello, the son of Billy and Charlotte (Torrey) Wilson. He graduated from Monticello High School with the feisty Class of 1973.
Shane served two years in the United States Navy. During his service he became a plank owner for commissioning the USS Spruance. Then he was off sailing the Caribbean as an Electricians Mate.
He met Dianne Baum in July of 1985, just in time for the Jones County Fair. They married on Oct. 24, 1992.
Most of his working life was spent with Hall Construction along with Red Jack and the Hall boys. In his spare time he owned Shane’s Sheds, where he built small houses and sheds. His green thumb was apparent when he raised and sold the sweetest sweetcorn for many years.
Surviving are his wife, Dianne; one son, Dustin Wilson; three grandsons, Tanner, Cole and Tait Wilson; three sisters, Darcy Kraus, Tori (Gary) Manternach and Shar (David) Welter, all of Monticello; in-laws, Jerry Frawley of Monticello, Joyce (Bob) Bell of Florida and Jean (Jerry) Albers of Texas, and many special nieces and nephews
He is preceded in death by his parents; his favorite grandma, Bernice Nehring; a sister, Tamy Frawley; a brother, Mitch Wilson; and a brother-in-law, Steve Kraus.
Shane will be missed for his big heart, humor and his knack for socializing.
