Shane "Buddha" Beckman, 44, passed away Thursday, March 2, 2017, following a brief illness. A memorial gathering will take place from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 8, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion, with a Parish vigil service beginning at 3:30 p.m. Celebration of Life will follow from 4 to 8 p.m. at Squaw Creek Park in Prairie Oak Lodge.
Shane is survived by his wife, Dawn, and their two dogs, Gypsy and Abby; mother, Rita Reif; father, Rick (Pam) Beckman; sister, Casey (Nick) DeBrower, and their children, Clayton and Cole; brothers, Brent Beckman and his son, Carter, and Brandon Reif; and in-laws, Brett and Kathy Ibsen.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather, Wayne Reif, and his grandparents.
Shane was born Dec. 12, 1972, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of Rick and Rita (Luerkens) Beckman. He married Dawn Crawford and was employed at ACP Inc. in Cedar Rapids.
Shane loved hunting and fishing and was a member of Pheasants Forever. He was a grillmaster and an avid Hawkeye fan.
A memorial fund has been established in Shane's memory.
