Shaffer, Susan Engelbart
Susan Engelbart Shaffer, 64, of rural Springville, died Saturday, July 9, 2011 at her home. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, July 13, at the Apostolic Assembly, rural Anamosa, with interment in the Amber Cemetery. The Rev Clayton George and Jay White will officiate at the services. Friends may call from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Goettsch Funeral Home, Anamosa.

Surviving is her husband, Tom; two children, Tamara Shaffer, Springville, and Steven (Kelsey) Shaffer, Palmdale, Calif.; three grandchildren, Michael Shaffer and fiancee Kimberly Smith, Charles Walker, and Brhianna Roberts, and many adopted grandchildren; her mother, Alice Engelbart, Anamosa; a sister, Vickie Decker, Cedar Rapids; two brothers, Kenneth (Kathy) Engelbart, Anamosa, and Russell (Gina) Engelbart, Amber; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her father, Dale; and her brother, Todd.
Susan Kay Engelbart was born Nov. 28, 1946, at Amber, Iowa. She was the daughter of Dale and Alice Redmond Engelbart. Susan received her early education in the Amber Schools. She graduated from the Anamosa Community Schools with the class of 1964. Susan Kay Engelbart and R. Thomas Shaffer were married April 24, 1965, at the Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. Susan operated the Last Trail Saloon in Anamosa and had also worked at Collins Radio. In 1998, she started Air Freight Express and was still involved in the business at the time of her death.
