Shaffer, Earl
Earl Shaffer, 83, a resident of Crestview Acres, Marion, passed away there peacefully on Saturday, Jan. 12, 2013. Services will be held at a later date.
Survivors include his children, Steven (Diane) Shaffer of Deep River, Dan (Stacy) Shaffer of Leavenworth, Wash., Christine (Terry) Wells of Davenport and Diane Shaffer of Cedar Rapids; eight grandchildren; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Paul (Barb) Shaffer of Central City and Tom Shaffer of Hiawatha; and Earl's lifelong partner, Jean Rubendall.
Earl was preceded in death by his parents; and two sisters, Betty and Norma.
Born Oct. 13, 1929, in Flint, Mich., Earl was the son of Laverne and Hazel (Beers) Shaffer. He was raised in the rural Central City area.
Earl loved hunting and fishing.
