Shada, Ronald Joseph
Ronald Joseph Shada, 72, of Walker, passed away peacefully at his home on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2013. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 28, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Urbana, by Father Ardel Barta. The family will greet friends from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point, with a vigil service beginning at 7 p.m. The family also will greet friends one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Valyda; his children, Ronda (Bruce) Huckins of Maynard, Tamara (Bob) Huckins of Walker, David (Deanna) Shada of Walker and Sharon (Michael) Lucas of Central City; one brother, Gerald (Martha) Shada of Center Point; 15 grandchildren, Stephanie Gordon, Kelly Lucas, Matthew (Allison) Kubik, Jacob (Cassandra) Kubik, Tyler Kubik, Michaela Lucas, James Lucas, Casey, Travis and Chloe Huckins, Mallory and Dalton Shada, Ronald (Abby) Huckins, Amber and Joshua Huckins; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a nephew.
Ronald was born Jan. 2, 1941, in Chatfield, Minn., the son of Joseph and Clara (Philips) Shada. He graduated from Austin High School. On July 30, 1960, he was united in marriage to Valyda Goodew in Austin, Minn. He worked as a plastics press operator at Rockwell Collins for over 37 years. Ronald played guitar and sang in many country bands. He enjoyed woodworking and socializing with his friends at local restaurants.
