Semelroth, Mary E. 'Grandma Mary'
Mary E. “Grandma Mary” Semelroth, 86, of Marion, went to heaven on Friday, May 31, 2013. Services: 10 a.m. Tuesday at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids. Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Monday at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home in Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include a daughter, Diana Bailey of Marion. She is also survived by a daughter-in-law, Kathy Semelroth Hintz of Keystone; eight grandchildren, Deb (Chuck) Finn, Lin (Ellen) Bailey, Rashelle (Jeff) Frasher, Roxie (David) Davis, Scott (Debbie) Bailey, Kim (Dave) Speck, Rob and Rory Semelroth; and several great- and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy; a son, Bob; and three sisters.
Mary was born July 22, 1926, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Henry and Mary (Siebels) Lubben. She married Guy Semelroth in Cedar Rapids. Guy passed away in 1959.
Mary worked in quality control at Fisher Printing and retired from there after many years of service. She was a faithful member of Sharon United Methodist Church, where she was active in its Monday Morning Bible Study and Red Hats.
Mary wintered for many years in Texas. She enjoyed the time spent with friends and her beloved family.
Mary's memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved her.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Mercy Hospice House for their compassion, love and kindness.
