Sellers, Lily Mae
Lily Mae Sellers, 81, died Aug. 18, 2010, at The Meth-Wick Community in Cedar Rapids. She was born Aug. 10, 1929, in George, Iowa. She married Theron V. Sellers in March 1948 and they lived most of their married life in Newton, where they raised their family. In 1980, Mrs. Sellers moved with her husband to Jefferson, Iowa, where she lived for 24 years before returning to Newton in 2004.
“Lil” is survived by her daughter, Laurisa Sellers and her husband, Arnold Shore, of Gloucester, Mass.; her son, Steven Sellers and his wife, Trisha, of Marion; and four grandchildren, Megan Threlkeld of Granville, Ohio, Brian Threlkeld of Portland, Maine, Katie Sellers of Cedar Rapids and Laura Sellers of Cedar Rapids. She is also survived by three sisters, Mrs. Betty Dray of Davenport, Mrs. Patty Duncalf of Milan, Ill., and Mrs. Katie Krahling of Ashton, Iowa; and one brother, Mr. Jim Botsford of Zeeland, Mich. She is also survived by her brother-in-law, Francis Moore of Newton.
Lil enjoyed sewing, playing cards, garage sales, cooking, and most of all, spending time with friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband, three brothers, and three sisters.
A memorial service will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 24, at The Neighborhood Church, 701 25th St. NE, Cedar Rapids, with private graveside services Saturday at Newton Memorial Gardens, Newton.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the Lily Sellers Memorial Fund, PO Box 221, Marion, IA 52302 to benefit the employees and staff at Meth-Wick.
