Seitz, William 'Bill'
The Lord called William “Bill” Seitz home on June 9, 2011, to his loving care. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, June 13, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha. The Rev. Daniel Krueger will officiate. Burial, with military honors, will be held in Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from 9 until 11 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, Mavis; children, Victoria Wilber of Decatur, Ill., Loni Seitz of Marion and Lynne (Rick) Postel of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Helen Heltibridle of Thornton, Colo.; stepbrother, Leon (Gloria) Tollefson of Waterloo; many nieces and nephews; and several extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and two grandchildren. Bill was born March 10, 1924, in Iowa City, Iowa, the son of George Emil and Anna (Brandt) Seitz. He married Mavis on June 15, 1968, in Cedar Rapids at Trinity Lutheran Church. Bill was a United States Army veteran of World War II. He worked for Novak LP Gas Service and Great Plains Propane for 42 years, retiring in 1980.
Bill was a member of the Marion American Legion, Hiawatha Zion Lutheran Church, former board member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Association, and a member of the Cedar Rapids Bowling Hall of Fame. Bill was an avid fan of the Chicago Cubs and Iowa Hawkeyes. He enjoyed bowling, golfing, fishing and spending time with his family and friends.

The Seitz family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Kenneth Cearlock, the Northbrook Care Center staff, and to the Mercy Medical Center staff for all of the help and care they gave to Bill and the entire Seitz family through the past week.
