Seitsinger, Marlowe J.
Marlowe J. Seitsinger was born Nov. 14, 1909, in Kinross, Iowa, the son of Jesse and Eliza “Doll” (Wagamon) Seitsinger. He graduated from Kinross High School. On Jan. 27, 1934, he was united in marriage to Iona Montross in Kirksville, Mo. They lived in the Kinross community where they farmed until moving to Wellman in 1994, then in 2006 Marlowe moved to Williamsburg, in 2012 he moved to Kalona. Marlowe enjoyed visiting with people and traveling. He was a member of the Kinross Christian Church. Marlowe died Monday, May 6, 2013 at the Pleasantview Home at the age of 103.
Marlowe is survived by three daughters, Sherry Shain of Warrington, Pa., Dixie Hathaway of Tulsa, Okla. and Ginger (Jim) Sheetz of Keota; a son, Ronald (Sheryl) Seitsinger of Sumner; 11 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters; Helen Romberg of Williamsburg and Betty Maxwell of Iowa City; and a brother, Harold Seitsinger of Wellman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Iona Seitsinger; son-in-law, Bob Shain; a daughter-in-law, Nancy Seitsinger; a half sister, Ruby Kammerer; and three brothers, Byrl, Omer and Paul Seitsinger.
Celebration of life services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, May 11, at the Yoder-Powell Funeral Home in Kalona, Iowa. Burial will be held at the Brethren Cemetery, rural South English. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home in Kalona.
A general memorial fund has been established.
