Seiffert, Jane O'Connor
Jane O'Connor Seiffert, 92, of Iowa City, died peacefully Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at the Solon Care Center.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday at Lensing Funeral and Cremation Service, Iowa City, with Rev. Karl Divine Koch officiating. The family will greet friends after 2 p.m. Family graveside services will be held at Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, Mercy Hospital Foundation or the Ronald McDonald House.
Jane was born March 11, 1918 in Belle Plaine, Iowa, the daughter of Gus Espe and Esther Moard Westberg. She was raised in Boone, where she attended junior college and married the late Frank “Bucky” O'Connor. In 1948 she moved to Iowa City. On July 12, 1969 she married Gerald “Jerry” Seiffert in Iowa City.
Jane was a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, University Club and P.E.O. She was an avid bridge player, enjoyed crossword puzzles and was a supporter of the University of Iowa athletics, especially basketball. She particularly enjoyed time with her family.
Jane is survived by her stepdaughter, Jane (Lynn) Rowat of Iowa City; two stepsons, Jim (Margaret) Seiffert of Louisville, Ken. and John Seiffert of Branson, Mo.; her son-in-law, Dr. Fred (Jo) Riddle of Iowa City; seven grandchildren, Kent (Camaren) and Erin Riddle, Emily (Avery) Cook and Jamie Rowat, Meredith, Claire and Jack Seiffert; and two great-grandchildren, Connor and Kayleigh.
Jane was preceded in death by her parents; husbands; her daughter, Kathy O'Connor Riddle; and her brother, Bill Westberg.
