Seeman, Ernest 'Ernie' Howard
Ernest “Ernie” Howard Seeman, 83, of 4811 Preserve Lane NE, Cedar Rapids, passed into the arms of our loving Lord on Friday, July 2, 2010. Private family services will be held at Cedar Memorial Park Mausoleum. Pastor Robert Pleiness will officiate. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Ernie served his country proudly in the U.S. Army from 1945 to 1947. He was employed at Home Heating Company and Ilten's Heating and Air Conditioning where he spent many of his years before retiring from Novak Heating Company in 1990. He was a member of Sheet Metal Workers International Local 263
Ernie is survived by his wife of 62 years, Hazel (Randolph) Seeman; three sons, Daniel (Judy), Michael (Kathi), and Cary Joe; grandchildren, Tammy (Jason) Voelpel, Thaddeus (Nova) Seeman, Amanda Seeman and Colby (Amanda Carder) Seeman; great- grandchildren, Rileigh, Jullian, Mason and Brodrick Seeman, Nickolas Voelpel and Brausdon Seeman; and three sisters, Lucille, Hazel and Bernice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest C. and Martha (Hoover) Seeman; brothers and sisters, Audrey, Marie, Alice, Marjorie, Roy, Lester (Gus), Robert (Bob) and Walter; and an infant sister, Susan.
Ernie loved life and lived life to the fullest. He was a lover of people and people loved him. He loved fishing, boating, tinkering in the garage and just sitting around visiting with his many family members and friends. The acreage he lived on meant the world to him and his wish was to spend the rest of his years there. His wish was fulfilled. He often said as he stood outside, “This is my church.”
He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
We wish to say a special thank you to the staff at the Dennis and Donna Oldorph Hospice House of Mercy and to his doctors who looked after him during his illness.
No flowers please.
Condolences may be sent to: Hazel Seeman, 4811 Preserve Lane NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52411
