Seaton, Kathleen K.

Kathleen K. Seaton, 61, of Shellsburg, passed away Sunday, Dec. 6, 2009, after a long courageous battle with cancer. She died at home surrounded by close family and her two miniature dachshunds. A public visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at First Presbyterian Church of Shellsburg. A private family ceremony will be held Thursday.

Katherine was born on Jan. 9, 1948, in Cedar Rapids, to Ivan and Hazel (Shuart) Pattison and spent her life in the Shellsburg area. She worked at Amana Refrigeration for 34 years and was a member of the Aerospace Machinists Union No. 1526. In her spare time, she loved to travel, work in her yard and spend time with her grandchildren.

Kathleen was preceded in death by her parents.

She is survived by her husband, Paul F. Seaton of Shellsburg; three children, Paul (Jerilyn) Seaton of Shellsburg, Denise (Jody) Seaton Erwin of Denver, Colo., and Paula (Rick) Seaton Valerio of Mullen, Idaho; two brothers, Robert Pattison and Ronny Pattison; her cousin, Betty June; and eight grandchildren.

The family would welcome flowers, which were a passion of Kathy's, but donations to the American Cancer Society are welcome as well.

The family would also like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Thomas Carlysle, who helped Kathy beat the odds and maintain a good quality of life for so long.
