Sears, Eugenia Mae
Eugenia Mae Sears, was born May 25, 1930, at home in rural La Porte City, Iowa, the daughter of Dave and Ferna Elliott Vanderheyden. She received her education in Geneseo, where she graduated in 1947. She continued her education at Iowa State Teachers College in Cedar Falls and then taught at Eldora. On July 10, 1952, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Sears at the Geneseo United Methodist Church. They made their home on a farm where they raised their family. She later returned to teaching and was librarian at the La Porte City School for 23 years.
Eugenia's death came at the Covenant Medical Center in Waterloo at the age of 80 years.
She is survived by her husband, Kenneth of rural La Porte City; two daughters, Margaret (Kevin) Perrinjaquet of Edgewood and Rhonda (Myron) Jack of Victor; one son, Kevin Sears of Albuquerque, N.M.; 11 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be from 3 to 6 p.m. Sunday, June 20, at Overton Funeral Home in Dysart. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at the Geneseo United Methodist Church, rural Buckingham, with burial at Spencer Cemetery, rural Buckingham.
