Sears, Dorothy M.
Dorothy M. Sears, 77, of Cedar Rapids, went home to be with the Lord, Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2012. Celebration of Life: 11 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, by the Rev. Wendall Beets and the Rev. Dr. Damian Epps. Interment: Oak Hill Cemetery. A visitation will be held Monday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Tuesday at the church.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Adolph, of over 40 years; sons, Charles (Judy) Jones and Glynn (Shar) Jones, both of Cedar Rapids; sisters, Pearlie (Leo) Griggs of Cedar Rapids and Virginia Gee of Philadelphia, Pa.; brother, Johnny (Diantha) Powell of Birmingham, Ala.; and her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and sisters, Louise, Elnora, Dolly and Mary.
“Bunch” was born Nov. 12, 1934, in Montgomery, Ala., to Joe and Mary Jones. She married Adolph Sears there on Oct. 14, 1968. She retired from Wilson Foods in 1990.
Bunch loved cooking, reading poetry, and sending cards to family and friends. Her greatest love was for her family. She was a member of Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an usher.
A memorial fund has been established.
