Scott Peterson, 62 of Cedar Rapids, passed away on Saturday, September 14, 2024, in Cedar Rapids surrounded by his loving family. Visitation is from 10:00 to 11:00 am Wednesday, September 18, 2024, at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids, with the Funeral Service following. Interment will be private.
He was born on June 1, 1962, in Spencer, IA to Richard Peterson and Judy Blin. Scott graduated from Independence Jefferson High School and played on the State qualifying basketball team. He was a janitor at First Lutheran Church in Cedar Rapids for 15 years. Scott loved music and playing his guitar, spending time at the lake with his family, and attending events of nieces and nephews. He enjoyed outdoor sports, especially cheering on the Green Bay Packers and Chicago Cubs. Scott was also passionate about serving First Lutheran’s Saturday Evening Meal Program (S.E.M.P.).
Scott is survived by his mother Judy (Jim) Blin; siblings, Susan (Richard) Briggs, Cathy (Terry) Krapfl, Jill (David) Fauver, Jeanne (Brant) Luebbe, and Jodi (Mark) Lockwood; and 20 nieces and nephews that were very important in Scott’s Life.
He was preceded into death by his father; his grandparents; and his forever furry, four-legged friend “Dollar.”
