Scott, Megan Lynn
Megan Lynn Scott, 16, of Marion, joined her grandpa Tom in Heaven following a courageous battle with cancer, on Saturday, May 7, 2011, at the Dennis and Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services: 10 a.m. Thursday, May 12, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. The family will greet friends from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. Burial: Palo Cemetery, Palo.
Survivors include her parents, Robert and Stacy of Marion; her sisters, Makayla and Madison, both at home; maternal grandmother, Marilyn McEnany of Marion; paternal grandparents, Kenver and Diane Scott of Marion; many aunts and uncles, including Uncle Steve (Shannon) McEnany of Altoona, Uncle Michael Scott of Marion and Aunt Stephanie (Scott) Viner of Marion; her cousins, John, Sadie, Samantha, Austin, Nathan and Nick; and many close friends, especially Sarah, Allison and Taylor.
She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, Tom McEnany; uncle, Scott McEnany; and great-grandparents, A.J. and Loretta McEnany, Lyle Scott and Robert Walter, all of which hold her close in heaven.
Megan was born Dec. 10, 1994, the daughter of Robert and Stacy (McEnany) Scott, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. She was a sophomore at Linn-Mar High School. Megan loved being a big sister to Makayla and Madison. Some of her favorite past times were boating, shopping, dancing and singing. Her greatest love was spending time with family and friends. Her life goal was to become a history teacher and a mommy.
Her parents will be lost without Meggy, their “electronic gadget guru.” She was a wonderful sister, daughter, niece, granddaughter, and friend.
The family will be forever grateful for family, friends, community, church, Hospice of Mercy and University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics for their unending support of Megan during her life and battle for her life.
The best gift Megan gave us is happy memories and living life knowing love of family and friends is everything. Everyone will honor her by continuing to love life and love the people in their life.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Megan's memory.
