Scott, Kenneth Wayne

Kenneth Wayne Scott, 86, a resident of Garnett Place, Cedar Rapids, formerly of Marion, died Saturday, April 9, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 13, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Shade Cemetery, Marion.

Survivors include his wife, Theola; children, Susan (Vernon) Tapper of Parkersburg, Jim (Rita) Scott of Central City, Jerry (Jerilyn) Scott of Marion and John (Debra) Scott of Marion; 11 grandchildren, Lisa (Joel), Laura (Kyle), Jennifer (Robert), Kimberly (Corey), Danielle (Hykim), Jamie, Zach, Corey, Jason, Tyler and Caleb; three great-grandchildren, Makiyla, Brooklyn and Amiya; and a sister, Jane Ann Scheer of Blairstown.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Doris Sundermeyer.

Wayne was born Feb. 23, 1925, the son of Harry and Grace (Goodyear) Scott, in Marion, Iowa. He married Theola Lint on July 13, 1945, in Marion. Wayne was a part-time farmer and worked at Harnischfeger for 36 years, retiring in 1985.

He enjoyed fishing trips, traveling, and spending time with his family. Wayne was a member of First United Methodist Church in Marion.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Luke's Hospice, 290 Blairs Ferry Rd. NE, Cedar Rapids, IA 52402, in Wayne's memory.
