Scott Buechel, 60, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away suddenly on Aug. 30, 2018, after a long-fought illness. Scott was born Dec. 16, 1957, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Bill and Donna Buechel. Scott graduated from LaSalle High School and held tight to many of his high school friends throughout his life. He later graduated from the University of Iowa, earning a bachelor's degree

He had charm, a good heart and a deep-down lively spirit. He was loved and will be missed deeply by all who knew him.
Scott was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his sisters, Sandy (Paul Lorentzen) Buechel and Pam (Matt) Barta; his nephews and nieces, Luke and Emma Barta and Tucker, Hannah, Annee and Tess Lorentzen; and many cousins.
There will be a celebration of Scott's life on Friday, Sept. 14 from 2 to 5 p.m. at Usher's Ferry in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. The service will begin at 2 p.m., with merriment to follow. Friends and family are encouraged to send a personal story or thought about Scott to be compiled and shared in a memoir book at his celebration.
