Scott Alan Brislawn, 60, of Cedar Rapids, passed away Monday, April 6, 2020, at the Hospice House of Mercy in Hiawatha. Cremation will be handled by Brosh Funeral Home and a Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
Scott was born July 3, 1959, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Wilbur and Shirley (Woodward) Brislawn. He was a graduate of Marion High School and owned a small business in the metro area offering landscaping and home repair services.
Scott was an avid fisherman and enjoyed fixing old cars, gambling and working with his hands. He was creative in carpentry, photography and custom crafts. He had a keen memory for numbers, a comforting voice and a way with animals. Scott had a compassionate heart and would help anyone in need, especially when he was employed at the Mission of Hope. It was there he received God's grace and accepted Christ as his savior.
Scott is survived by his children, Shannon Brislawn, Heidi Shaw (Tony), Brian Brislawn (Angel) and Alicia Brislawn (Dwaune); stepson, Brock Neff; six grandchildren; his mother, Shirley Burnett; siblings, Kelly Randall, Laurie Saylor (Kevin), Donna Fisher and Michelle Burnett; ex-wives, MaryAnn Woodard and Glenda Brislawn; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and extended loved ones.
Scott was preceded in death by his grandparents; father, Wilbur Brislawn; stepfather, Wayne Randall; and stepbrother, Paul Letts.
