Scott D. "Steele" Beaty, 45, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Dec. 18, 2014. Memorial services: 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 3, 2015, at First Lutheran Church, where a visitation will begin at 10 a.m. The Rev. Craig Brown will officiate. Iowa Cremation is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Misty Kaye Beaty; his son, Briggs David Beaty; his mother, Valerie (Jack) Glotfelty of Oregon, Ill.; his brother, Aaron (Melissa) Beaty of DeKalb, Ill.; and his grandfather, Arthur Dietze of Oregon, Ill.
He was preceded in death by his father, David Beaty, and grandmother, Grace Dietze.
Scott was born Sept. 28, 1969, in Dixon, Ill., the son of David and Valerie (Dietze) Beaty. He married Misty Hartman on Oct. 29, 2005. Scott was a well know radio host for KHAK/KRNA radio stations. He was a graduate of Augustana College and Illinois State University. He was a member of First Lutheran Church, on the board of directors for Greg's Mission, and an avid participant at Relay for Life.
