SCOTT ALAN HARBACH
Delhi
Scott Alan Harbach, 59, of Delhi, Iowa, passed away after the onset of a sudden illness at University of Iowa Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, on Jan. 14, 2019.
Visitation: 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 23, Clifton – Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. Funeral Services: 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 24, at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Delaware, with additional visitation one hour prior to services. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Scott was born on April 23, 1959, to Wilbur and Ruth (Lubben) Harbach in Anamosa, Iowa. From early on, he always lived life to the fullest. He believed in standing up for the underdog and was a daredevil through and through. He ran Scott's Pumping for many years on Lake Delhi and amassed many friends over the years through his business.
In December of 1987, Scott met Patty Bowers, and together they raised a family of three wonderful daughters. Felicia Kay arrived in October of 1988, Caitlin Marie November of 1991, and Marissa Rose November of 1997.
One thing anyone who knew Scott can agree on is remembering his love for telling stories. He was a natural storyteller who knew how to draw in a crowd no matter whether he was at home in Delhi or some random bar in Minnesota. His stories were elaborate and sometimes bordered on tall-tale, but he always could elicit a laugh. True Story!
Scott's survivors include Patty Bowers of Delhi; Felicia Harbach (Nick Schultz) of Sterling, Ill., and Caitlin Harbach of Marion, Iowa; Ruth Harbach of Manchester, Iowa; Sheila Freiburger of Delhi, Iowa; Randy (Reeta Wall) of Delhi, Iowa, Pam Knutson (Tony Kapnisis) of Naples, Fla.; Kevin (Nancy) Harbach of Delhi; Jeff (Barb) Harbach of Larkspur, Colo.; Jody (Mike) Kelly of Cypress, Calif.; Jim Harbach (Jennifer Tegler) of Manchester, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.
Scott was preceded in death by his father, Wilbur; his maternal and paternal grandparents; and his daughter, Marissa.
