Schweinefus, Conley H.
Conley H. Schweinefus, 78, died at St. Luke's Hospital on Thursday, March 24, 2011. Funeral services: 11 a.m. Monday at Our Savior's Lutheran Church, by the Rev. Phil Jorgenson. Interment: 3:30 p.m. Monday at Hillside Cemetery, Ossian. A visitation will be held Sunday from 2 to 5 p.m. at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home and after 10 a.m. Monday at the church.
Survivors include his wife, JoAnn; daughter, Connee Jo (Eric) Larsen of Indianola; siblings, DuWayne (Georgiann) Schweinefus of Decorah, Janice Sorensen of Cedar Rapids, Suzan (Curt) Brown of Hiawatha and Nancy (Mark) Scheidel of Ossian; grandson, Christopher (Erin) Larsen; great-grandson, Karter Larsen; and many nieces and nephews.
Conley was born March 2, 1933, in rural Fayette County, to Herbie and Hazel Schweinefus. He graduated from Ossian High School and then served in the United States Army during the Korean conflict. Conley married JoAnn Schultz in Ossian on Sept. 25, 1955. He retired as a production control supervisor at Harnischfeger in 1988.
Conley was a member of Brotherly Love Lodge 204, American Legion Post 735 and Our Savior's Lutheran Church. Conley collected and searched out antiques and was an avid Green Bay Packer, Hawkeye, and New York Yankee fan.
