Schwarting, Theresa P.

Theresa P. Schwarting, 64, of Rowley, died Wednesday, Nov. 6, 2013, at University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics in Iowa City.

Theresa was born Jan. 12, 1949, in Vinton, Iowa, the daughter of Delbert D. and D. Eleanor (Noelter) Luze. She received her education in the Vinton Schools, and on Dec. 30, 1966, she married Herman J. (Tony) Schwarting in Vinton. The couple made their home near Rowley. Theresa was employed for 28 years with Walmart in Independence until her retirement in 2011.

Theresa always made sure her family came first. She enjoyed, fishing, mushroom hunting and bowling.

She is survived by her husband, Tony; three children, Lisa (Shawn) Franck and Tony (Julie) Schwarting, both of Independence, and Chad (Jan) Schwarting of Quasqueton; six grandchildren, Johnny, Jacey, Jacob and Jaden Schwarting, McKenzie and Kayle Alden; a sister, Cindy (Bobby Jo) Gannon of Atlanta; and a brother, Dean (Kathy) Luze of Vinton.

Preceding her in death were her parents, and two grandchildren, Jared Schwarting and Kelsi Franck.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Rowley United Methodist Church, with the Rev. Sheri Andersen officiating. Burial will be in Rowley Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Reiff Funeral Home & Crematory, Independence, and from 10 a.m. until services Saturday at the church.
