Schuster, James J.
James J. Schuster, 59, of Dubuque, formerly of Farley, died Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at 2:55 a.m. at Dubuque Nursing and Rehab Center in Dubuque. Friends and relatives of James may call after 9 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Dubuque, where services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Steven Resonke officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Maquoketa. Reiff Funeral Home in Farley is in charge of arrangements.
James was born Sept. 19, 1950, in Dubuque County, Iowa, son of Elmer Emil and Margaret (Greenwood) Schuster. He received his education in the Western Dubuque schools. On July 24, 1982, he was united in marriage to Viola G.
Banowetz at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Maquoketa, Iowa. Jim courageously battled a lifelong disability and faithfully attended church services throughout his life. He enjoyed bowling and watching the Chicago Cubs on TV.
He was a member of St. Patrick's Parish in Dubuque and the Knights of Columbus in Dubuque and Omaha, Neb., Council No. 652.
He is survived by six siblings, Anna Mae (Bill) Hoefer of Marion, Donald (Judy) Schuster of Dubuque, David (Joanna) Schuster of Peosta, Dale (Sharon) Schuster of Deerfield, Wis., Fred (Laura) Schuster of Bellevue, Larry Schuster of Rockfalls, Ill.; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Viola Schuster on June 30, 2003; a sister, Linda Boll on March 9, 1979; and a brother, Joseph Schuster in infancy.
