Schulte, Ralph J. 'Jim'
Ralph J. “Jim” Schulte, 85, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, in Cedar Rapids. Services: 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 7, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with Father Jack McClure C.PP.S. officiating. Burial: St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, Norway. Visitation: 4 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Parish Center, with Scripture service at 7 p.m. and rosary at 7:30.
Jim was born Nov. 24, 1923, in Norway, to Adam and Agnes (Brecht) Schulte. He married Dorothy L. Spellerberg on Sept. 13, 1951, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Walford.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy; son, Kevin (Kelynn) Schulte; grandchildren, Kyle, Carter and Malea; sisters, Mary Jane (Edward) Gibney and Shirley (Ronald) Walter; and brother, Roland (Connie) Schulte.
He was preceded in death by three children, Lydia Ann, Mark Joseph and Monica Ann; his parents; brothers, Edward and Orville Schulte; and sisters, Marlys Butz and Helen Zweigart.
Ralph and Dorothy lived on the family farm until 1981, when they moved to Norway. Ralph farmed his entire life and ran a corn-shelling business for many years. He was a member of St. Michael's Church, Norway, and the Catholic Order of Foresters. Ralph enjoyed his grandchildren, fishing, hunting and dancing.
