Schulte Jr., Wilbert W. 'Bill'
CEDAR RAPIDS - Wilbert W. “Bill” Schulte Jr., died Monday, Oct. 18, 2010, at the Rehabilitation Center of Hampton. Services: 9:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Christopher Podhajsky officiating. Burial: St. Michael's Cemetery, Norway. Visitation: 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Cedar Memorial Westside Chapel, Cedar Rapids, and after 9 a.m. Saturday at the church.
Survivors include stepchildren, Chad Hilton, Candace Hilton and Jennifer Raue; stepgrandchildren, Andrew, Alex, Selena and Trevor; sisters, Nancy (Paul) Cahill, Virginia Kuester and Carol (Jerry) Kouba; brothers, Dan (Sally) Schulte and Vic (Sherry) Schulte; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and brother-in-law, Gabe Kuester.
Bill was born May 9, 1938, in Norway, to Wilbert Sr. and Geraldine LeFebure Schulte. He graduated from Norway High School in 1955 and attended Loras College.
Bill was married to Carolee Dietiker in Cascade on Nov. 9, 1959. They later divorced. On Jan. 26, 1990, he married Sandy Hilton in Las Vegas.
Bill worked for Wilson Packing Plant while in high school until the plant closed. He served in the U.S. Army. He was very involved in the Industrial Fast Pitch Softball League (Wilson Foods) and later managed teams in the minor (Eastside Maidrite) and major (Welty Way) softball leagues.
In 2001, Bill was inducted into the Cedar Rapids Softball Hall of Fame. He had also been involved with Little League Baseball in Norway many years ago. Bill was owner/operator of Billy Magoo's Bar.
