Schulte, Glen Joseph
Glen Joseph Schulte, 86, died Saturday morning, Sept. 10, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, from complications of pneumonia. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, St. Michael's Catholic Church, Norway, with the Rev. Brian Dellaert officiating. Burial: St. Michael's Catholic Cemetery, with military rites. Visitation: 3:30 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church, with a rosary at 7:30 p.m.
Glen was born Aug. 2, 1925, at the family farm in Norway to John C. and Dora (Frese) Schulte. He graduated from Catholic school in Norway and helped on the farm. Glen met his wife, Dorothy E. Lutz, when she taught school in Norway. Glen and Dorothy were married at St. Michael's Church in Norway on Oct. 30, 1947. He was a World War II veteran and a chaplain's assistant.
Glen is survived by his wife, Dorothy; children, Marsha (Richard) Wilson, Gary, Sandra (John) Kahler, Sharon (Mark) Ditch, Terry, and Wanda Hanna; grandchildren, Chad, Tonya, Tina, John Glen, Matthew, Eric, Bryant, Brad, Danielle, Brett, Brandon, Tina, Kristina, Nathan, Cory, Jessica and Joseph; 11 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Marjorie Jansa and Barbara Arp.
Preceding him in death were his parents; brothers, George, Bernard, Herbert and Raymond; and sisters, Sister Lumena, Marcella, Margaret and Lorene.
Glen fought illness for many years. His interests were his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, farming, trucking, fishing, dancing, old country music, and visiting with friends.
Brosh Funeral Service of Norway is serving the family.
