Schueller, Mary Ann
Mary Ann Schueller, 75, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Jan. 29, 2012, at Hallmar Care Center. Services: 10 a.m. Friday at St. Pius X Catholic Church by the Rev. LaVerne Schueller and Co-Celebrant the Rev. Phil Thompson Burial: Mount Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Thursday at Teahen Funeral Home with a 3 p.m. vigil service. Friends may visit again from 9 to 9:45 a.m. Friday at the church.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Dr. Thomas; three children, Matthew (Teppie) Schueller of Green Bay, Wis., Meg (George) May of Woodbury, Minn., and Scott (Pe'tra) Noble-Schueller of Munich, Germany; seven grandchildren, Mark, Tony, Blaise, Michael, Anna, Eleanor and Clare; six siblings, Tim (Dee) McNeil of Sun City, Ariz., Tom (Barb) McNeil of Goodyear, Ariz., Michael (Roberta) McNeil of Bend, Ore., Joseph (Maria) McNeil of Eutace, Texas, and Carolyn Bileddo and Liz Tanaka, both of Rock Island, Ill.; aunt, Jean Sonnhalter of Rock Island; brother-in-law, Father LaVerne Schueller of Cedar Rapids; sister-in-law, Mary Ann (Paul) Sands of Bartlett, Ill.; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mary Ann was preceded in death by her son, Mark; parents; and three brothers-in-law, David Schueller, Joe Bileddo and Michael Tanaka.
Mary Ann was born Oct. 11, 1936, in Barberton, Ohio, the daughter of Lawrence and Eleanor (Sonnhalter) McNeil. She married Thomas Schueller on Sept. 12, 1959, in Dubuque. Mary Ann received her Bachelor's Degree from the University of Iowa in Medical Technology. She worked in the lab at the Veterans Hospital in Iowa City and Mercy Medical Center. Mary Ann was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church, Indian Creek Nature Center, volunteered at the American Red Cross and in 1987 president of the Archdiocesan School Board.
Mary Ann enjoyed playing golf and was a very good tennis player.
Memorials may be directed to the Community Free Health Clinic, St. Pius X Catholic Church or the Mercy Medical Center Foundation.
Mary Ann's family would like to thank the staff on the second floor of the Hallmar Care Center for all their wonderful care.
