Schroeder, Grace E.
Grace E. Schroeder, 90, formerly of Earlville, died Tuesday, Jan. 15, 2013, in Keystone Care Center, Keystone. Funeral Services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 19, at the Earlville United Parish. Visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday before services at the church. Arrangements by Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Earlville.
Grace was born July 26, 1922, in Steinam, N.D., the daughter of John and Mary (Earheart) Robinson. She graduated from Earlville High School in 1939 and Epworth-Upper Iowa University in1941. Grace was a teacher in a one-room school. She was united in marriage to Francis “Frank” Schroeder on April 3, 1943, at the Earlville United Methodist Church. He passed away Nov. 15, 1999. They lived in California for a short time before farming on the Robinson farm and then returning to California from 1953-1968. They lived in Manchester for a short time. They moved to Hartford, S.D., and were there from 1974-1998. She worked at the Sioux Falls Airport in the gift shop for many years. She and Frank then moved to Hiawatha in 1998 before his passing.
She was a member of the Earlville Garden Club and Earlville Community Club. Grace enjoyed gardening, bird watching, crafts, quilting, cooking, baking, camping and fishing.
Survivors include her children, Jeremy Schroeder of Sioux Falls, S.D., Konrad (Wendy) Schroeder of Riverside, Calif., Adrian (Ginette) Schroeder of Orange, Calif., Suzanna (Dave Wittke) Ivester of Van Horne, Iowa, Dawn (Rick) Varnum of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, and Mary (Bob) Hoggatt of Anaheim, Calif.; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and one sister, Rachael Johnson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Frank; and three siblings, David, Bryce and Audley.
A memorial fund has been established in Grace's memory.
