Schroeder, Donald M.
Donald M. Schroeder, 81, of 5426 First Ave. NW, Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011, at St. Lukes Hospital after a short illness. Memorial services with military rites at 1 p.m. Thursday at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Friends may visit with the family after 12:30 p.m. Thursday at the chapel. Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanette; one daughter, Jennifer (Kevin) Lyons; three sons, Kim, Kirk (Sara) and David, all of Cedar Rapids; three sisters, Carmen, Nada and Maureen; and four grandchildren, Andrew, Bryce, Reece and Logan.
He was preceded in death by an infant son, Tim; and daughter, Lori.
Don was born on Feb. 16, 1930, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold and Isabel Paulune Schroeder. He married Jeanette O. Curtis on Nov. 20, 1950, in Iowa City. Don was an engineer at Rockwell-Collins for over 30 years, retiring in 1985. Don proudly served in the Army during the Korean War.
He enjoyed fishing, painting, woodworking and especially the time he spent with his friends and beloved family.
A memorial fund has been established.
