Schreier, Elaine
Elaine Schreier, 80, of Charles City, died Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2011, at Cedar Health in Charles City. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at St. John Evangelical Lutheran Church, with burial at Calvary Cemetery in Charles City. Friends may call at Hauser Funeral Home in Charles City from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday and one hour before the service Saturday at the church.
Elaine Jean Soli Schreier was born Oct. 22, 1930, in Vang, N.D., the third child of George and Ruth (Kjennrude) Soli. In 1953, she moved to Sioux Falls, S.D. While there she met and married Adam Eugene “Gene” Schreier on Aug. 6, 1954. They moved to Des Moines in 1956, settling in Charles City in August 1957.
Elaine always looked forward to sharing her life with her family, especially her grandchildren. She really appreciated the laughs, luncheons and good times with many wonderful friends.
Living family members include her husband, Gene Schreier of Charles City; four children, Michael (Victoria) Schreier of Lexington, Ky., Teresa (David) Bennett of Cedar Rapids, Lance Schreier of Charles City and Timothy Schreier of Hoboken, N.J.; two grandchildren, Travis and Ryan Bennett; three brothers, Allan (Marge) Soli of Rapid City, S.D., Charles (Charlotte) Soli of Langdon, N.D., and Gene (Mary Ann) Soli of Milton, N.D.; a sister-in-law, Marietta (Stan) Nelson; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Doris McCloud Hanson.
The Hauser Funeral Home, (641) 228-2323, in Charles City, is in charge of arrangements.
