Schreiber, Arleen L.
Arleen L. Schreiber, 84, of Newhall, formerly of Cedar Falls, died July 1, 2013, at the Lutheran Home in Vinton of sudden cardiac arrest.
Arleen was born March 21, 1929, in La Porte City, Iowa, the seventh child of Max Carl and Laura Adel (Rundel) Schreiber. Throughout her childhood Arleen was reared in seven foster homes. Through ages 9-18, she was a protégé of the Waterloo Kiwanis Club and benefited immeasurably under the friendship of Mrs. Ella (John) Bartley, a Kiwanis auxiliary member who remained her mentor for over 50 years. Arleen was a member of St. Paul's Catholic Church, Newhall.
Survivors include her sister, Mildred Burris of Cedar Rapids; her brother, Jesse Love of Lafayette, Ind.; 19 nieces and nephews; and numerous grandnieces, grandnephews, great-grandnieces and great-grandnephews.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 9, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 303 Third Ave., Newhall, with burial at West View Cemetery in La Porte City. Public visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until services Tuesday at the church. Kearns Funeral Service Kimball Chapel in Waterloo is in charge of arrangements.
