Schram, Mary E.
Mary E. Schram, 82, of Cedar Rapids, died Nov. 24, 2011, at Mercy Medical Center following an extended illness. Memorial services will be held 3 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. Inurnment will take place at Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories Mausoleum. Arrangements entrusted to Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home.
Surviving are her husband of over 63 years, Don; her children, Michael (Judy) Schram of Geneva, Ill., and Kathleen (Tom) Schram-Chakeres of Fairfax, Va.; her grandson, Jon (Alexis) Schram of Geneva, Ill.; her great-grandson, Jacob Schram; as well as her close friend, Tootie Watson of Ames.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Rose and Marge.
Mary Elizabeth Schram was born July 22, 1929, on the family farm near Boone, Iowa to Charles and Sarah (Waddell) Flynn. She graduated from Gilbert High School. On June 18, 1948, she was united in marriage to Don E. Schram in Nevada, Iowa. She lived in many places in America that included Pittsburg, Pa., Orlando, Fla., and her favorite, St. Louis, Mo. She and Don wintered for 18 years in Orange Beach, Ala. She greatly enjoyed time spent on the pontoon boat at Lake Macbride and of course her time spent with her family.
She will forever be remembered as being a very loving person as well as a great wife and mother. She will be greatly missed.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in Mary's honor may be directed to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
