Schrage, Mary Jane
Mary Jane Schrage, 86, of Marion, died Tuesday, May 8, 2012, at St. Luke's Hospital following an extended illness. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 12, at the Cedar Memorial Park Chapel of Memories. The Rev. John Louk of Salem United Methodist Church will officiate. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. Burial will take place at Guernsey Cemetery, Guernsey, Iowa.
Surviving are her husband of 63 years, Norbert; her daughters, Carol (Bennie) Salers of Brandon, Miss. and Kristine (Gerald) Slaymaker of Guernsey; grandchildren, Lisa (Steve) Goodanew, Mary (Steve) Darrow, Tammie Slaymaker, Ben Salers, Jennifer (Brian) Gray, Scott (Andrea) Salers, Amy (Pepper) Bradford and Adam Chapman; 14 great-grandchildren; and son-in-law, Rich Chapman.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her daughter, Linda Chapman; her sister, Dorothy Schilling; and her granddaughter, Debbie Slaymaker.
Mary Jane was born Feb. 25, 1926, in Charles City, Iowa, the daughter of Albert and Irene (Jung) Schilling. She was united in marriage to Norbert E. Schrage on June 11, 1948, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. She worked at Rockwell Collins and retired after 30 years of service. She was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Mary Jane enjoyed music especially attending community concerts, playing the piano and singing in the church choir for many years. She also enjoyed needle point and above all her family. She will be greatly missed.
