Schoonover, Maxine Merth
Maxine Merth Schoonover, 87, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011, at St. Luke's Hospital following a short illness. It was Maxine's wish to be cremated. There will be no visitation or services. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service is in charge of arrangements.
Survivors include her husband, Ray; daughter, Janet Bonifazi and her husband, Leo, of Cedar Rapids; grandson, Travis Krousie and his wife, Tracey, of Fairfax; and great-grandsons, Cole and Kaden Krousie.
She was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Jeanne Stephen; and four brothers, Eugene, Ernest, Tilton and Leo Hepker.
Maxine was born April 25, 1924, in Alburnett, Iowa, the daughter of Harry and Merth (Martin) Hepker. She graduated from Franklin High School in 1941 and attended Cedar Rapids Business College. For 30 years, Maxine worked as a secretary for the Armstrong's Department Store, retiring in 1987.
Maxine was a loving, caring child of God. She always put others needs before her own. She loved knowing her donations to two churches through the years would prosper the kingdom of God.
