Schnitzler, Mrs. Hazel Gerdes
Mrs. Hazel Gerdes Schnitzler, 99, of Benson, N.C., died Monday, May 14, 2012, at her residence. Funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Rose & Graham Funeral Chapel, Benson. The Rev. Barry Barbour will officiate. Burial will be at Cedar Memorial Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, at a later date.
Mrs. Schnitzler was born in Manchester, Iowa, on Nov. 29, 1912, to the late Elizabeth Vandermass and Jess O. Boots Sr. She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Gerdes. She was a homemaker, a member of Elevation United Methodist Church and a member of the Benson Senior Center.
Surviving are daughter, Gloria J. Hill of Benson, N.C.; sons, James E. Fish of Clovis, N.M., and Wilbert O. Fish of Walkersville, Md.; brothers, Jess O. Boots, Jr. of Virgin, Utah, and Richard Boots of Cedar Rapids; six grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.
Family will receive friends Wednesday, immediately following the service, at Rose & Graham Funeral Home.
