Schneiter, Steven
Steven Schneiter, 58, of Monticello, died Thursday, Sept. 3, 2009, at the Jackson County Hospital from injuries suffered in an auto accident. Funeral services will be 11 Friday morning, Sept. 11, at Peace Untied Church of Christ, Monticello, with interment in Oakwood Cemetery. Friends may call from 3 until 8 p.m. Thursday at Goettsch Funeral Home, Monticello. The Rev. Peter Wenzel will officiate at the services.

Surviving are his wife, Marge; three sons, Michael (Joy) of Carbondale, Colo., Brett and special friend Jaime Oliver of Cedar Rapids and Daniel (Petra) of Zdar Nad Sazavou in the Czech Republic; a granddaughter, Selah; his dog, Cosmo; two sisters, Karen (Christopher) Williams of Del Mar, Calif., and Bev Schneiter of Edwards, Colo.; and a brother, Douglas (Denise) of, Loveland, Colo.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Steve Schneiter was born June 7, 1951, at John McDonald Hospital, Monticello, Iowa, the son of Paul and Bonnie Keen Schneiter. Steve graduated from the Monticello Community Schools with the class of 1969. He then went to work at Cuckler Buildings as a draftsman. Steve Schneiter and Marge Rieken were married Oct. 7, 1972, at Wayne Zion Lutheran Church. The couple moved to the Schneiter family farm in Richland Township in 1976. Steve retired from farming in 2001 and went to work at Cascade Lumber. In 2004, he went to work at Swiss Valley, now Innovative Ag Service, as assistant manager of the Hopkinton Feed Plant.
Steve was a lifelong member of Peace United Church of Christ, where he had served as president of the congregation on several occasions and was a deacon and elder. He also was a 4-H leader for the Lovell Lions and served on the 4-H Council, the Pork Board and was a Richland Township Trustee. He had served in the United States Army Reserve.
