Schneider, Roland 'Ron' D.

Roland “Ron” D. Schneider, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, Feb. 18, 2010, at St. Luke's Hospital following a sudden illness. Services: 3 p.m. Sunday at Edgewood Family Fellowship by Pastor Craig Bex. Friends may visit from 4 to 6 p.m. Saturday at Edgewood Family Fellowship and again Sunday after 2 p.m. until the start of the service. Teahen Funeral Home is serving the family.

Ron is survived by his first wife, Janet Steadman; and present wife, Jeannie Schneider, both of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Diane (Randy) Blakely of Urbana; daughter, Lori Schneider, son, Craig D. Schneider, and son, David Schneider, all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Jody (Bill) Seeley, Tiffany Schneider and Sara Schneider; great-grandchildren Trey, Taylor and Levi Seeley; sisters, Barbara, Jewel, Gabby and Denise; brothers, Duane, Buck, Danny and Rodney; many nieces and nephews; and special friends, Diane Jones and Bill Meyer.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Kay; and granddaughter, Reanna.

Roland DeForrest Schneider was born Feb. 21, 1929, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harold Vernon and Carol Maxine Phillips Schneider. He married Roberta Jean Minor on April 21, 1966, in Galena, Ill. He worked as a Teamster. Ron was a member of the Atkins American Legion Post 217 and Edgewood Family Fellowship.

Ron was loved by all his family, his Edgewood family, his many friends, and will be greatly missed by all.
