Schneider, David M.
David M. Schneider, 74, of Bettendorf, passed away after a long battle with cancer, diabetes, and myelodysplastic syndrome on Wednesday, Nov. 14, 2012, at ManorCare, Utica Ridge. Per his wishes his body was donated to the Anatomical Gift Association of Illinois. Private family services will be held.
David was born Dec. 27, 1937, in Chicago, the son of Mathias and Caroline (Figlewicz) Schneider. He was married to Sallie Kolda for 32 years.
David attended the University of Illinois. He was a member of the U.S. Marine Corps, held various positions at radio and television stations, including announcer, salesman and general manager at WKEI, WPEO, KWWL, KIMM, KLWW, KASI, KCCQ, WMT-TV, KGAN-TV and WHBF-TV. He was a vice president and general manager for Black Hawk Broadcasting and owner of Cyber Exchange store in Moline.
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Sallie M. Schneider; daughter, Pamela M. (Dave) Colson; son, Corwin P. (Marcie Fauconniere) Smith; daughter, Cynthia (Michael) Vaznaugh; grandchildren, Katie Colson and Kristianna Vaznaugh; special friends, Nan and Gordon Bena; brother, Bill Schneider; nieces and nephews; and sister-in-law, Sherry Schneider.
David was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, John Schneider and Matt Schneider.
The family would like to express their gratitude to ManorCare, Utica Ridge, for the compassionate care provided to Dave. Also, Dr. Costas Constantinou and his staff.
Memorials may be made to the Humane Society, American Cancer Society, or to Heartland Hopsice.
