Schmidt, Ricky G.
Ricky G. Schmidt, 56, formerly of Delhi, died Tuesday, July 28, 2009, in Austin, Texas, from cancer. Funeral services:
11 a.m. Tuesday at the Delhi United Methodist Church by the Rev. Lorraine Hartman. Family will greet friends from 4 until 7 p.m. Monday, August 3, at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home in Earlville, and for one hour before services on Tuesday at the church. Burial: Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Rick was born June 21, 1953, in Manchester, the son of Elmer "Bill" and Marion (Schnittjer) Schmidt. He graduated from the Maquoketa Valley School System in 1972. Rick moved to Austin, Texas, nearly 25 years ago and was employed by Lauren Concrete as a concrete salesman.
Rick loved his job and his many friends at Lauren Concrete. He enjoyed skeet shooting with the guys and riding his Harley. He also was an avid animal lover.
Rick is survived by his siblings, Laurie (Randy) Kramer of Delhi, Marcia Lux of Bend, Ore., and Bill Johnson of Portage, Wis.; and two nieces, Sydney and Elise Johnson, also of Portage.
Rick was preceded in death by his parents, Elmer "Bill" and Marion (Schnittjer) Schmidt.
